Folk Arts Park

"Folk arts" refers to "folk craftsmanship," "folk craft" and "folk arts." The Folk Arts Park is a multi-functional park that helps promote traditional folk craftsmanship, arts, music, drama, and dance and is also a multi-functional, resting place for cultural and educational purposes.


Introduction
Uni-President Yi-Lan Art & Culture Corporation was jointly formed by the President Chain Store Corp and Lan-Yang Cultural and Educational Foundation. The corporation was authorized by the Council for Cultural Affairs of the Executive Yuan in July 2004 to manage the Folk Arts Park. This is also the first time that the Uni-President Company manages a cultural industry in a business manner, and tries to raise the standard of cultural industry through a creative manner. In the future, the Uni-President Yi-Lan Art & Culture Corporation will combine all the available resources of the Uni-President Company and hopes to create a larger benefit and to raise the standard of the cultural industry through powerful promotional events.

 

Visiting Information

The Folk Arts Park is divided into two areas: the Village area and the Living Habitat area. The Village area is like an epitome of Taiwan's traditional society, and the Living Habitat area allows visitors to view the natural environment along the river. The Folk Arts Park will bring to you the beauty of Taiwan's traditional buildings and the variety of traditional folk performing arts, thus enriching your life and knowledge. This is a happy place for a cultural tour.

 

Beauty of Buildings

Guanghsiao Hall is Taiwan's traditional ancestral shrine. It was originally a shrine for a Chen family. It was built in the style of Chau-chou area from Kuang-tung Province, rarely seen among other buildings in Yi-lan that are mostly in the style of Chang-chou area from Fu-chien Province. Hwang-chu-jen Residence is a house in the traditional U-shaped style. It is the home of Huang Tsuan-hsu, the first winner who passed the local government examination, in Yi-lan. Along the streets in the Folk Arts Park are models of markets from early Taiwan that express the beauty of all kinds of buildings. WenchangeTemple is a traditional-styled temple that it combines the most elegant sculptures and paintings. With an outdoor stage for performance in front of the temple, one can see the superb craftsmanship of artisans everywhere.

 

Handicraft

Handicraft can be divided into eight types: sculpturing, weaving, painting, modeling, tailoring, needlework, old-time toys, and others. Visitors can see these crafts in action and can also experience them firsthand.
 

Performing Arts

In the Folk Arts Park, visitors can enjoy variety of themes and performances, such as music, dramas or dances. There will always be all kinds of performances to surprise our visitors throughout the years.
 

A Tour of Knowledge

There will be different types of guided tours, depending on the when visitors visit us. If visitors prefer to know more, they can make reservation and our professional volunteers will give in-depth guided tours and tell the history of this land.
 

A Resting Travel

Let it be walking on the green grass along the riverbanks, sitting on the grass and watching happy people walking by or enjoying the scene of the riverbanks, visitors can come here to release pressure from their minds in all sorts of ways. If you are hungry, we have traditional snack bar in the park for you growling stomach.
